The Lavata’i brothers grew up in Samoa immersed in Polynesian culture and performance. From a young age, they trained in traditional fireknife dancing under their father, Malakai Lavatai Sr., he being a highly respected member in their Samoan community, taught them discipline, precision, and deep respect for the art of Siva Afi.

They also trained with Freddie Latuli and his daughter, Malie Letuli (the original creators of Fireknife) where they refined their skills, performance techniques, and storytelling through fire.

In 2015, the Lavata’i family partnered with Jason Wright to launch their first Polynesian Fire Luau in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The partnership blended cultural tradition with strong business leadership. Jason brought experience from Maui Mahalo Dollars, and Polynesian Village Luau, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of South Carolina–Columbia.

Today, the three Lavata’i brothers, Jason Wright, and Malakai Lavatai Sr. are business partners, working together to deliver an authentic Polynesian Fire Luau experience rooted in heritage, professionalism, and passion.

Spice up your visit to Myrtle Beach, Daytona, or Orlando with a luau performance!
